Owned by Stuart Oliver, 10 times British Truck Racing Champion, Team Oliver are in the British and European Truck Racing Championships. The team comprises of Stuart, who was also FIA European Truck Racing Champion in 2004 and Nürburgring “King of the Ring” in 2010 and 2016 to name just a few achievements, supported by Martin Gibson, whose first season was 2018/19, and Stuart’s son, Michael Oliver, who was awarded BTRC Rookie of the Year in 2016.

Stuart’s passion for all things fast began at an early age. While still at school he would acquire ‘scrap-heap finds’, modify them, and then test them to the limit around the local farmer’s fields. After leaving school Stuart qualified as a mechanical engineer and worked hard to grow the family business. Truck Racing was always his passion, and as soon as time and the business would allow, he set-to and modified an old ERF truck and entered the British Truck Racing Championship in 1998, finishing the season third overall and winning the title of Rookie Driver of the Year. Often on TV – to the point that “Some Say” he is closely linked with the Stig’s truck driving cousin Rig Stig – allegedly! He has also appeared on 5th Gear, the Paul O’Grady Show and even Blue Peter. He is also involved as a ‘behind the scenes’ expert too, for example, travelling 1,200 miles through Burma in three old trucks filming the BBC’s Top Gear Christmas special.

Top Fact:

Stuart was crowned the first ever champion of the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship held by Tata Motors at the Buddh International Circuit in New Delhi, India, in 2014.

Ambitions:

The trio are keen to see what they can do with their new MAN Race Truck for the 2020 season.
